How is a San Diego Trustee Paid?
How is a San Diego Trustee Paid? When appointed to be the trustee of a San Diego decedent’s trust, the San Diego trustee takes on liability and is accountable to the beneficiaries. Because of the work involved with being a San Diego trustee, the trustee should be paid. It is important that the San Diego trustee understands the payment must be “reasonable.”
So what’s reasonable? I recently read an article written by Liza Horvath in the Monterey County Herald that discusses the difference between a San Diego probate which is directed by the San Diego Probate Court and a San Diego trust administration. Fees are established for a San Diego probate in the San Diego probate code. A San Diego trustee is entitled to fees and according to this article reasonable fees can be in the range of 0.5 percent to 1 percent of the value of the trust assets.
